Jazz
Our sweet Jazz lives in Ellensburg, Washington with my husband, daughter and me. She is happy, loyal, affectionate and sometimes very silly. Going on hikes, wading through streams, and finding fun things to sniff are activities Jazz loves.
We got Jazz from Sullivan’s Boston Terriers, one of our favorite breeders. She was originally going to live with my mom in Kamiah, but when I picked her up from the flight nanny, I was instantly taken with her and decided to keep her in Ellensburg. She quickly settled in and became an irreplaceable part of our family.
Jazz is seven years old, strong and sturdy, and usually weighs around 23 pounds. She has a kind and curious personality and is the perfect family dog. My daughter, Mara, loves playing dress-up, and Jazz patiently joins in, watching her with love and calm. If Mara wakes up from a bad dream, Jazz will cuddle up beside her until she falls back asleep. She’s incredibly empathetic—if any of us are feeling down, she sticks close, offering quiet comfort. Confident and alert, she often takes the lead among the dogs.
We share so many fun moments. In the garden, Jazz loves chasing grasshoppers and sniffing around where the rabbits have been. Once, she bit into a stinkbug by mistake and learned to give them a wide berth after that! She’s always up for a hike, especially on off-leash trails, and loves splashing around in ponds and creeks, though she’ll only swim if there’s a stick or ball to chase. One of her favorite things is visiting the rest of the pack in Idaho, where she runs free through the fields and forests, chasing scents and playing with the other dogs.
Jazz was a devoted mother, and raising her puppies was such a joy. She delivered naturally, and the puppies arrived healthy and full of life. In her second litter, one tiny fighter named Tiny Tim was born with a cleft palate. With eight weeks of careful syringe feeding, his spirit and determination shone through, and he grew into a thriving little dog. Now, with her mothering days behind her, Jazz enjoys her well-earned role as one of the grandmas of the pack.
